FAMILY ENVIRONMENT

All CDE events are family friendly events. We have set some sort of standard to make sure inappropriate routines are penalized or disqualified. Each judge's score sheet has a check box on it, labeled "This routine might NOT be family friendly". There will be a 10-point deduction for each judge that checks this box, from the routine's total score. If all our judges check the box, the routine will be disqualified. If you have any questions, please email us.

DRESSING ROOMS

Dressing rooms will be assigned prior to every event. All studio owners, parents, dancers & performers and all belongings must remain in your assigned dressing room area. Collide Dance Experience cannot be responsible for any items left in the dressing room during or after the event. There will also be a designated area for boys and men. We ask that each studio owner and parent ensures that their designated space is neat and all items are collected. Any special request should be made through email at CollideDanceExperience@gmail.com

OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION

A typical CDE 3-day regional Competition, Intensive & Pageant weekend runs from Friday to Sunday. Studios and participants will have the opportunity to participate in a welcome show, intensives, competitions, studio showcases, class auditions, celebration of studios parade and The Collide Awards Gala. We offer engaging, fun and creative intensive classes across multiple dance styles. Each Dance Studio that attends Collide Dance Experience will be highlighted throughout the weekend and leave feeling a part of CDE family. We won’t start any of our events earlier than 3:00pm on Friday and end by 10:45pm. On Saturday we will begin at 8:00am and end by 10:45pm and Sunday begin at 8:00am ending around 6:30pm. Collide Dance Experience has 7 Divisions & 4 levels. All Solo Title “Dancer of the Year “, doesn’t have levels. DOTY contestants can be from a studio or independent. All scholarships winners will be highlighted on stage at The Collide Awards. Classes in Many Styles: Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Acrodance, Tap, Ethnic, Musical Theatre, Ballroom, & More! Studios can choose to be a part of the intensive workshop and/or competition as well as Collide Global Talent Pageant. STUDIO OWNERS & TEACHERS workshop classes are offered. Our 3–7 year olds will have a special performance piece to showcase at our The Collide Awards. All CDE ages (Intensive, Competition & Pageant) are determined as of January 1, 2024. For example: Ages for November 2023 events will be as of January 1, 2024, and ages for April 2024 events will be as of January 1, 2024. To reach the average age of an entry, add all the ages together and divide by the number of dancers in the entry. When averaging ages always DROP THE DECIMAL POINT. For example, if a routine average is 12.7, you would drop the decimal, therefore the routine would compete in the 11-12 yr. old age category. The average age of each entry must not drop more than one age division below the age of the oldest dancer in the entry, regardless of the actual average age. Example: an entry contains dancers ranging in age from 8-16, the entry may not compete younger than the 13-15 age category (one division younger than the oldest dancer who is 16 years old) Any routine with a dancer 20 years of age or older must compete in the Open age division (20+) regardless of the average age of the routine. Names, ages and date of birth of all dancers must appear on the entry form or it will not be accepted. All competing dancers must be prepared to present a birth certificate should a question arise. Judges reserve the right to change the performance division of a number if they feel it is incorrectly placed. Tots, Petites & Minis routines will not be scheduled after 8:30pm. Juniors, Teens & Senior routines will not be scheduled after 10:30pm. Whether uploading your music or bringing a Flash Drive to the event, ALWAYS have a back-up in another format (like an iPod/iPhone) just in case. All group competition routines must be entered under the studio’s name. Judges may stop a number in progress and request that it be repeated. If our equipment fails, the studio may choose to continue or to re-do the number. The performance must continue or withdraw if the performers' equipment fails. If a soloist receives a 1st Place award in one COLLIDE city, they are unable to compete for overall (even if a different solo) at any other COLLIDE city for the remainder of the season. Soloist can register to perform a solo piece however, that piece won’t be scored for overalls. Competing dancers should be ready 60 minutes prior to their scheduled competition time. The Competition may run early, and each dancer will be expected to perform at an earlier time. Also, please keep this in mind if you are leaving the theatre and plan on returning for the awards. CDE reserves the right to change all rules and regulations at any time without notice. All questions that arise are resolved at the discretion of the Directors. Collide Talent Productions & Collide Dance Experience do not allow teachers or studio owners to solicit dancers from other studios at any of our events. The first offense will result in a warning. If any additional offenses occur, the studio will not be permitted to attend any future events. Soloists to Group Divisions will have their own Overalls. Judges reserve the right to move up or down a group. This is only done if at least two judges feel a dancer or group should be in the higher or lower level. There will be one Title winner per division age for the DOTY competition. There will be up to two Collide Global Talent Pageant winners per division age. We will crown a Mr.& Miss for each division. Studio owners please select the appropriate division/age in the registration system for each dance. The intensive workshop fee includes a minimum of 10 class hours over the course of a 2 or 3-day weekend. Professional dancers are welcome for the intensive workshop, and can participate in the competition. All professional dancers can only compete in the ProAm (20+) Shooting Star category. CDE considers a "professional" to be anyone that derives more than 50% of their income from dance. For Studio registrations, if a routine is removed before the 45-day deadline, the deposit can be applied to the remaining balance for that city/event only. This decision is to prevent last-minute cancellations and give opportunities to all studios and dancers.
